The Sunrise Project is a Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL)Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) project which beganin October 1993. It is intended to prototype uses of the coming National Information Infrastructure.
The IBROWSE Project - This project deals specifically with issues relatedto browsing massive databases of digital imagery.
Merge/Purge - The merge/purge problem entails a massively parallel sorton multidimensional data. Each dimension needs special processing afterthe sort. Examples abound in the financial industry such as creditprocessing, income tax fraud detection, phone fraud detection, and healthcare claims processing.
